  • Author: jonathan_morgan
  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy baked sandwich featuring crispy bread, melted provolone and mozzarella cheese, cured meats, and tangy pepperoncini peppers. Perfect for busy weeknight lunches or meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Italian loaf or sub rolls (or French baguette)
  • Pepperoni slices
  • Genoa salami or sliced ham
  • Sliced provolone cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoncini peppers, drained
  • Oil-based Italian dressing
  • Olive oil
  • Dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the Italian loaf or sub rolls in half horizontally.
  3. Brush the cut sides of the bread generously with Italian dressing.
  4. Layer sliced provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  5. Layer pepperoni, salami, and ham on top of the cheese, folding slices to fit.
  6. Place drained pepperoncini peppers on top of the meats.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the peppers.
  8. Close the sandwiches and brush the tops with olive oil.
  9. Sprinkle dried oregano over the tops.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes until cheese is bubbly and bread is golden brown.
  11. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

Ensure peppers are drained well to prevent soggy bread. Use sturdy bread like baguettes or ciabatta. For a spicy version, add jalapeños or red pepper flakes. Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
