Description
A budget-friendly, high-protein breakfast shake that tastes like banana bread. Made with frozen bananas, vanilla protein powder, and warm spices, this quick recipe delivers a thick, creamy texture and sustained energy for busy mornings.
Ingredients
- 1 large banana, peeled, sliced, and frozen
- 1 scoop vanilla whey or plant-based protein powder
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons instant oats
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- A tiny pinch of nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
- Ice cubes (optional, for extra coldness)
Instructions
- Peel and slice the banana, then freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Pour the almond milk into the blender first to help the blades spin freely.
- Add the protein powder, instant oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup. Pulse oats once if they are large to break them down.
- Add the frozen banana slices and peanut butter. Add ice if desired.
- Blend on low speed to break up the fruit, then increase to high. Blend for 30-60 seconds until completely smooth.
- Taste and adjust consistency by adding more milk if too thick or more ice/banana if too thin.
- Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Optionally top with cinnamon or granola.
Notes
Frozen bananas are essential for a thick, milkshake-like texture; fresh bananas will make it runny. Always add liquids to the blender first to protect the blades. If using natural peanut butter, stir the jar well before measuring. The shake is best served immediately as oats will continue to thicken it upon standing.
