Description
Golden, flaky pockets of vanilla custard filled with ripe bananas and instant pudding mix. This budget-friendly dessert comes together in under 25 minutes using simple pantry staples.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups cold whole milk
- 2–3 medium ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 13×9 inch baking pan or rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened. If using, gently fold in the whipped topping.
- Peel and slice bananas into half-inch rounds.
- Unroll crescent dough onto the prepared baking sheet and press perforated seams together to form a single rectangle.
- Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border. Distribute banana slices over the pudding.
- Starting from a long end, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 8 equal rolls and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
- Mix melted butter with cinnamon and sugar. Brush or spoon this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and puffy. Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
- Cool for at least 5 minutes before serving to allow filling to set.
Notes
Use ripe bananas with brown spots for maximum sweetness. Ensure crescent dough is cold until ready to use. Press seams tightly to prevent leaking. Do not overfill rolls. Cool for 5 minutes before eating to avoid burning tongue on hot filling.
