Description
A budget-friendly, one-pan comfort food meal featuring seasoned ground beef topped with shredded cheddar cheese and flaky refrigerated biscuits brushed with herbed butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated flaky biscuits
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Ketchup or BBQ sauce for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and break apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until no pink remains, then drain excess fat if necessary.
- Season the cooked beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a small bowl, melt the butter and stir in the dried parsley, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt to create the herbed butter mixture.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the seasoned beef mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the beef layer.
- Separate the biscuits and place them in a single layer on top of the cheese, leaving small gaps between them.
- Brush each biscuit generously with the herbed butter mixture.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until biscuits are golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving to allow cheese to set slightly.
Notes
Shred your own cheese for better melting. Do not skip browning the beef to avoid soggy biscuits. If biscuits brown too fast, cover loosely with foil. Can be adapted with lean turkey or gluten-free biscuits.
