Description
A simple, budget-friendly slow cooker meal made with spaghetti sauce, sloppy joe mix, and pasta. It’s a creamy, comforting dinner perfect for busy weeknights and families.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 jar (24 ounces) spaghetti sauce
- 1 can sloppy joe mix
- 1 pound dry spaghetti, broken in half or thirds
- 3 cups water
- Optional: 1 pound ground beef or turkey, browned
- Optional: 1 onion and garlic, sautéed
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Spray the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with non-stick spray.
- Pour the spaghetti sauce and sloppy joe mix into the slow cooker and stir to combine.
- Break the spaghetti into pieces and add to the slow cooker along with the water. Stir to ensure pasta is submerged.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until pasta is tender.
- Stir the pasta occasionally during cooking to prevent sticking.
- If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water. If too thin, cook uncovered for 30 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt or pepper if needed.
- Serve hot, optionally topped with fresh herbs or cheese.
Notes
Break the spaghetti to ensure it fits in the slow cooker and cooks evenly. Stir occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom. If using meat, brown it beforehand. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pasta. Check pasta at 4 hours to avoid mushiness.
