  • Author: jonathan_morgan
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 16-20 servings 1x

Description

These spicy, creamy, and addictive jalapeno popper bites are a budget-friendly game day snack that costs pennies compared to sports bar appetizers. They are quick to prepare, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for entertaining without breaking the bank.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 810 medium jalapeño peppers
  • 8 oz block cream cheese (full-fat, softened)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup plain dried breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • Cooking spray (for greasing baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Rinse and dry jalapeños. Slice each pepper in half lengthwise and scoop out seeds and membranes using a spoon.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix with a fork until smooth and creamy.
  4. Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture, filling to the brim but not overstuffing.
  5. In a small bowl, mix melted butter with breadcrumbs until evenly coated.
  6. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over each stuffed pepper, pressing gently to adhere.
  7. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and breadcrumbs are golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation. Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth filling. For a milder taste, remove all seeds and membranes. These can be frozen before baking and cooked from frozen, adding 5-10 minutes to cook time.
