Juicy Honey Lime Chicken: 30-Minute Easy Dinner

  • Author: jonathan_morgan
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

A quick, flavorful, and juicy chicken dinner featuring a sweet and tangy honey lime glaze. This easy weeknight meal is ready in under 30 minutes and uses simple pantry staples.

Ingredients

  • Boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • Neutral oil (avocado or light olive oil)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Honey
  • Fresh lime juice (from about 3 medium limes)
  • Soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • Fresh garlic, minced
  • Fresh ginger, grated
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, fresh lime juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
  3. Heat neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken thighs in a single layer and sear for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Flip chicken and cook for another 4-5 minutes until cooked through. Remove chicken from pan and set aside on a clean plate, leaving rendered fat in the pan.
  5. Reduce heat to medium. Pour the honey lime sauce into the pan and scrape up any browned bits. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Return chicken to the pan and spoon the sauce over the meat. Cook for 1-2 minutes to glaze the chicken, ensuring internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

Notes

Patting the chicken dry is crucial for a good sear. Honey burns easily, so keep the heat at medium-high and watch the sauce closely. If the sauce is too thin, simmer longer or add a cornstarch slurry. For a spicy version, add more red pepper flakes or jalapeño. This recipe is naturally dairy-free.
